Based in Glasgow, Intelligent Alternatives Ltd (IA) was formed in 2009 to provide development services to the UK wireless telecoms, digital outdoor media and renewable energy sectors. IA’s development team seek to build on their extensive experience at developing agricultural land based projects in identifying suitable land, securing planning, grid connection rights and managing the full acquisition process on over 1.5GW of renewable energy projects and 12,000 mobile comms sites. Its small but focused group of industry professionals seeks to deliver a high-quality service by maximising in-house skills and expertise to minimise the development timescale for its clients.

Meet the team
Roy Amner
With over 30 years of experience in delivering land based infrastructure projects, Roy heads up IA’s development team. A Chartered Electrical Engineer, Roy has previously worked in the fixed line & mobile telecoms sectors, general engineering consultancy, and renewables sectors. Roy has successfully developed and secured funding exists on over 1.5GW of renewable projects in recent years.
Keir McPhail
Having completed his Masters in Mechanical Engineering at Strathclyde University, Keir has joined IA’s engineering team to further expand his renewable energy understanding by supporting our CAD and design services.
Diana Falcon
Having worked on a number of significant international infrastructure projects, including waste management schemes, LPG Storage schemes and a proposed new International Airport, all of which required Environmental Impact Assessments, Diana has joined IA to support our EIA Scoping projects and NSIP Development schemes.
James Jamieson
James is a MRTPI Chartered planner with over 10 years experience of delivering a wide range of development projects, ranging from peaking gas schemes to large scale solar projects. He has experience of working closely with a wide range of clients, stakeholders and collaborators, and has first hand experience of local authority, consultancy and developer roles.
Adrienne Quin
Adrienne has over 26 years experience as a property investment and development solicitor. From her previous role as a Legal Director at Pinsent Masons LLP in Glasgow, she has a detailed knowledge and understanding of the management and delivery of complex, multi million pound property transactions.
Stephen Clarke
Using his CAD and GIS skills to help maximise the design opportunity for IA’s projects, Stephen has worked on a wide range of energy and infrastructure projects, including solar, peaking gas, outdoor advertising and battery storage projects. He is experienced in coordinating utility connections, including electricity import & export connections (11kV – 132kV), and gas connections (low, medium and high pressure).
Yuan (Daniel) Qi
Having completed his BSc in Spatial Town Planning at the Dublin Technological University, Daniel is completing his Masters Degree in City Planning at the University of Glasgow. He is supporting the assessment, submission and management of IA’s planning applications, while working on his dissertation.
Chris Amner
While studying for a degree in Business Management, Chris has joined IA to provide project and admin support.
